Description: The purpose of this class during the first hour is to provide a low stress, cooperative environment in which students can develop more fluency, targeted vocabulary, structural knowledge, cultural knowledge, and strategies in order to perform well on the AP Spanish exam.
We will work in pairs and as a whole class to practice strategies for timed readings and choosing the best responses to multiple-choice questions. We will also listen and respond to many authentic audio clips, as well as practice professional email responses. In addition, our class will brainstorm sentence starters to help students respond quickly and accurately in the interactive speaking portion of the exam.
In preparation for the presentational speaking, we will share cultural knowledge of different Spanish speaking countries, and practice vocabulary to express similarities and differences that students will use in their cultural comparison speeches. Finally, we will compose a persuasive essay as a class, and then individually if time allows.
The last half hour of each class will be dedicated to helping students with any specific challenges they may have with AP Spanish assignments from their respective schools. They will receive a template to fill out and send to Ms. Brookes so that she may bring it up on screen to assist them.
