The challenges the Covid-19 pandemic brought to public education are immense. The impacts of the chaos on students’ learning are immeasurable. Take control of your learning by taking classes from experts you can count on.
Youth Creates is proud to offer online classes during the 2020-2021 school year. Classes will be conducted via Zoom Web Conferences. The Youth Creates admin and teachers are highly dedicated to your learning and success. Our moto is to promote student learning with the best resources possible.
For each course, we offer:
- Weekly Lectures from reputable instructors for 30 weeks during the 2020-2021 school year;
- Teaching Assistant Office Hours: Each course would be equipped with one or more teaching assistants who would offer one hour of office hours each week during the weeks when there are classes. Students could come to the office hour with specific questions from homework or class materials. All teaching assistants are distinguished student leaders with outstanding academic records for the subject.
By registering the classes, you agree to the waiver and you and your student would abide by the Participant Code of Conduct.

TUITION & POLICIES
Tuition is $1,499 for classes with 2 hours per lecture session, e.g., 60 hours of lecture time and 30 hours of TA time.
Tuition is $949 for classes with 1.5 hours per lecture session, e.g., 45 hours of lecture time and 30 hours of TA time.
A $25 non-refundable registration fee is applied per student per class, e.g., every student would be charged a $25 non-refundable registration fee for every class he/she registers.
TA office hours and student-led sessions are free of charge.

Refund Policies
Refund Policies:
1. If a student is to drop off from the class before the 2nd session, a full refund will be issued.
2. If a student is to drop off from the class before the 3rd session, 70% of the tuition will be issued.
3. no refund will be issued after the 3rd session.
The following discounts are offered. Multiple discounts can be applied.
- Low-Income Relief Discount: Youth Creates is working to provide financial assistance to qualified students. More information on this opportunity will follow;
- Donation Discount: Youth Creates event donors and sponsors receive a total of $25 discount for their donations per family;
- Sibling Discount: Each sibling receives a total of $25 sibling discount when more than one student from the same household sign up;
- Early Bird Discount: Students who register before August 10th, 2020 receive a total of $25 early bird discount per student;
- Referral Discount: Each family receives a total of $25 reference discount when they successfully refer other students to sign up for Youth Creates classes.
Classes start in the week of August 23, 2020.

3. The week of December 20, 2020;
4. The week of December 27, 2020;
5. The week of January 3, 2021;
6. The week of March 14, 2021.

CLASS DETAILS
Spanish Classes by Mrs. Julie Brookes

Instructor: Mrs. Julie Brookes
Mrs. Julie Brookes is a Spanish, French, and ELA teacher who taught full time in the Cherry Creek District for 28 years. Ms. Brookes first taught Spanish levels 1 and 2 at West Middle School, and subsequently levels 1-4 in Spanish and French at Cherry Creek High School. She has also taught the Secondary Foreign Language Methods class for the University of Denver.
In addition, Ms. Brookes has lived and taught in Mexico, France, and Croatia. She currently works as a private tutor, online teacher, and professional translator.

Description: The purpose of this class during the first hour is to provide a low stress, cooperative environment in which students can develop more fluency, targeted vocabulary, structural knowledge, cultural knowledge, and strategies in order to perform well on the AP Spanish exam.
We will work in pairs and as a whole class to practice strategies for timed readings and choosing the best responses to multiple-choice questions. We will also listen and respond to many authentic audio clips, as well as practice professional email responses. In addition, our class will brainstorm sentence starters to help students respond quickly and accurately in the interactive speaking portion of the exam.
In preparation for the presentational speaking, we will share cultural knowledge of different Spanish speaking countries, and practice vocabulary to express similarities and differences that students will use in their cultural comparison speeches. Finally, we will compose a persuasive essay as a class, and then individually if time allows.
The last half hour of each class will be dedicated to helping students with any specific challenges they may have with AP Spanish assignments from their respective schools. They will receive a template to fill out and send to Ms. Brookes so that she may bring it up on screen to assist them.

Description: The purpose of this class during the first hour is to provide a low stress, cooperative environment in which students can develop more fluency, structural knowledge, and cultural knowledge through story-based activities.
We will use gestures, drawings, paired activities, exercises, and games to practice key vocabulary before we listen to and read each chapter of the story. The audiobook (provided by the teacher) is narrated by native speakers and includes music and sound effects. After reading each section, we will engage in discussions, grammar explanations, and short writing activities.
The last half hour of each class will be dedicated to helping students with any specific challenges they may have with Spanish 2 assignments from their respective schools. They will receive a template to fill out and send to Ms. Brookes so that she may bring it up on screen to assist them
AP Computer Science by Ms. Xiuping Wang

Instructor: Xiuping Wang
Ms. Xiuping Wang got her M.S. in Computer Science from Colorado State University. She has 20 years of Java development experience with different frameworks and is familiar with the AP Computer Science curriculum. Ms. Wang loves working with kids of all ages and quickly bonds with them.

Description: This AP Computer Science class aims to provide students additional lectures and practices to help them better master and apply the concepts learned in their regular classes at school and to support them with the AP Computer Science test. All topics covered in the AP Computer Science test will be reviewed and practiced. Students are expected to finish assignments from this class, which would be no more than 2 hours each week.

TA: Stephen Zhang
Stephen Zhang is the Founder & CEO of Youth Creates. Stephen has a keen interest in math and computer science. He took AP Calculus BC and AP Computer Science at Cherry Creek High School in the 2019-2020 school year and got a 5 for both of the AP tests. Stephen is an AIME qualifier and an Oracle Certified Java Programmer.

TA: Jason Chen
Jason Chen is a sophomore at Cherry Creek High School, advanced in math and computer science. He is especially interested in computer science. He took AP Computer Science in his freshman year and got a 5 on the 2020 AP Computer Science exam. He is a USACO bronze winner and a CCHS cybersecurity club member.

Biology Session by Andrew Lu

Session Host: Andrew Lu
I’m Andrew Lu and am a rising senior at Cherry Creek High School! I took both AP Chemistry and AP Biology at Creek, and scored a 5 on both exams. I’ve been conducting extensive lab research at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus for the past three years mainly on the topic area of miRNA mechanisms in head and neck tumors. I also had the opportunity to attend Vanderbilt University’s Programs for Talented Youth this past summer and was able to dive deep into the history and mechanisms of genetics and cancer research.

Honorary Coach: Mr. Taylor Dufford
Taylor Dufford is a Research Assistant at Taiga Biotechnologies, Inc in Aurora, Colorado. Prior to working at
Taiga, Taylor was a teacher in the Cherry Creek School District for 28 years and has taught Biology (College
Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Placement) as well as Anatomy & Physiology and Physical Science
(College Preparatory and Honors). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of
California, Berkeley and a Master’s Degree in Science Education from the University of Denver. In addition
to his passion for learning and education, he enjoys being outdoors, travel, and experiencing new cultures.
